All You Must Know about Knuckle Shot in PES 2012

Knuckle shot is one of free kick shot technique that popularize by Cristiano Ronaldo in the real soccer world. That’s why in PES 2012, Cristiano Ronaldo knuckle shot is the best.

But do not worry, another player also can do the knuckle shot. Just choose player with Shot Power above 85. The best one if you have player with Shot Power above 90. Another PES 2012 player also said about another condition, Shot Accuracy, with value at least 85. But in my opinion, it’s no need to considering the Shot Accuracy. Just target the center of goal, that’s it. Even your player’s Shot Accuracy just 50, it’s no way he will miss the goal, at least it will reach the most left bar, or most right bar.

As a free kicker, to do knuckle shot in PES 2012 is by press Square. It will make your player running to the ball. When his foot reaching / contact with the ball, just press Square once again. It’s all about the timing. To know you success or not, just see the result. The ball will move like crazy. Another way to check it is if your power bar still same, not increase, it mean you success. This is the way that almost all players know.

The new trick about doing the knuckle shot is press the square while ball in the air. Combine the direction with square button.
The first combination : press down + Square while ball in the air. The ball will blast and go down with increasing speed.
The second combination : press left or right + Square while ball in the air. The ball will blast and go right with increasing speed. Choose wisely, right or left. Even I said Shot Accuracy not influence, but if your target to the left, and then move the ball to the left, it will miss and too wide.
The first combination : press up + Square while ball in the air. The ball will blast, increasing the ball speed and try to move straight (just the gravitation that will make the ball going down).
These 3 combination are not suggest to do when the ball still in going up. The best result is when the ball have close to the goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper vs Knuckle Shot in PES 2012

As the goalkeeper, it will sucks if almost 95% knuckle shot can be a goal. The goalkeeper always late to response. So, how if you become a goalkeeper and againt the knuckle shot in PES 2012 ?

In my experience, I help my goalkeeper by pressing triangle or circle when the ball have close to the goalkeeper. It will your goalkeeper react faster and block the ball. The best one is by pressing circle. Your defense must aware and clear the ball after the goalkeeper block the ball.

Becareful, when you press the circle, your another control player will doing tackle. So make sure the your control player do not close to another enemy player. To change the control player, press L1 and move the right analog. It will good if you can move the right analog fast, and make the goalie as the control player.

PES 2012 dribble and feint also still have easy control, by assign some dribble trick to the Right Analog Controller.

PES 2012 Dribble and Feint :

All tutorial for PES 2012 dribble and feint written with asumption the player moving from the left to the right of screen. So adjust it by yourself when you move with anothers direction.

Body Feint
There are 2 type of body feint, while running and in the stationary position (standing). To do body feint, just move the right analog up or down. Depend on your needs.

Step Over
Step over also can do while running or in stationary position rotate right analog from down to the right (cross over with the right foot) or rotate right analog from up to the right (with the left foot). If you also play street fighter, it like doing Hadouken.

Step Over Fake
Do the step over and then press up+right or down+right.

Side Step / Drag
Do just side drag just press and hold L2 and press right analogi Up or Down. Depend on the direction the you want to move. You can change the direction when doing side drag. So, if in the first move you choose to press up, you can change the direction by press and hold L2 + down.

Matthew Feint
To do Matthew Feint, just press and hold right analog up and then press right+down (diagonal down) direction. Another one is press and hold right analog down and then press right+up (diagonal up) direction.

Drag Back
Press and hold L2 and then press the right analog left.

Drag Back and Move
After do drag back, continue the move by press  the D-Pad (left analog) up+right (diagonal up) or down-right (diagonal down).

Back Heel Feint
Hold L2, rotate analog right from left to up, and then push left analog (D-Pad) down. Another version, hold L2, rotate analog right from left to down, and the push left analog (D-Pad) up.

Inside Bounce
It’s same with Drag back and Move, but doing it while running. The other version is while running, hold L2 button and then press right analog to the left, then you must press the left analog (D-Pad) to right. If right analog to right, left analog (D-pad) to the left.

Elastico
While running, hold L2, move right analog right+up (diagonal up) and then move the left analog (D-Pad) right+down (diagonal down). Another :  hold L2, move right analog right+down (diagonal down) and then move the left analog (D-Pad) right+up (diagonal up).

Cross Over Turn Ronaldo Chop
While running, hold L2, move the right analog up and then move the left analog (D-Pad) up. Or hold L2, move right analog down and the move left analog (D-Pad) down.

Rainbow Flick
While running, hold L2 and then press R3 twice.

Lift Left and Lift Right
While running, hold L2, press and hold R3, and then move left analog (D-Pad) up+right (diagonal up) or down+right (diagonal down).

360 Turn aka Zidane Turn or Roulette
Press and hold L2 and then rotate the left analog 360 degree clockwise.

Fake Shot
Press Square + X and the direction. It mean we have 3 options. Square + X + up, down or left (back). Hard to explain these, just practise in Training Mode and will find that these 3 moves really powerful.

Fake Pass
We know in PES 2012, we have 3 options in pass. With X, Triangle or Circle. To do the fake pass, just press R1 + R2 and the pass button.
X + R1 + R2
Triangle + R1 + R2
Circle + R1 + R2

Diving
L1 + L2 + L3 + R3

Positive things of PES 2012

Computer AI
Computer AI in this version much better than 2011 version. The computer players move and try to cover the fields. Right and left back will automatically run forward and try to overlapping. If your player ( controlled player ) to some dribble, example dribble from center to the side flank, automatically the left winger will try to cut into the box, or move in the to central midfield. The striker and winger doing the great run without ball. Run to cut inside or to the flank. It will create more chances than previous version.

Presets Formation
In PES 2012, it introduced the presets formation. It provide 4 presets formation. So, you can manage and set all 4 formation and use them in plays. Really easy to change the formation and player position with this feature. When set or manage presets formation we can also set the style of play easily. It have some preset too, like counter attack style, all out attack style, etc. So, you no need to set all style parameters manual. By if you want to set all parameter manual, just choose custom.

Great Graphic
I can say that the graphic in PES 2012 is great. The movement almost look like original player. I can explain more, you must see and try it.

Dribble and Movement
In PES 2012, the dribble is really really easy. Almost all players can do smooth and great dribble. It also provide some great movement when you do usual movement, like run and stop, passing over the back, and another great move. It’s automatically, depend on the player skill. No need to press any button, just usual run or pass.

Super Knuckle Shot
In PES 2012, you may score the goal in free kick situation with knuckle shot. It also possible even the distance more than 30, 40 or 50 meters. The longest I ever saw is 53 meters. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the goal with knuckle shot in 53 meters. Honestly, I do not know must put this in positive things or negative things.

Negative Thing of PES 2012

Goalie Skill
The goalkeeper usually do the stupid movement. They come forward too often, even in not danger situation. It make the enemy striker can score the goal easily. Remember that all player can dribble good in PES 2012. The goalkeeper move forward even the enemy striker charge or defend by 2-3 defenders. I sure if the goalie not move, still in the box, the enemy striker can not scored. And the worst thing is in free kick situation. The goalkeeper do not react or react so late if the free kickers do knuckle shot. I really really hope that in next update or patch, Konami fix this bugs.

Dribble and Movement
Like I wrote above, all players can do a good dribble. I though it’s not fun. All player can dribble like Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Barcelona X Factor
I though this is influenced by Barcelona performance in soccer. In PES 2012, the referee often blow the whistle to cover the Barcelona player. You may not charge the Barcelona players, like Messi, Iniesta or Xavi. Little charge will make the referee blow the whistle. But in offside position, they blow seldom when Barcelona striker in offside position especially when Xavi do the through pass.

 Stats
Some team stats and player stats is unreasonable. Example is Tottenham Hotspur have grade A in speed, just because Lennon and Bale have speed above 90. Another players in Hotspur just have a standard speed.

All review above is my personal opinion and will update if find more. All review based on my experience when playing PES 2012.

If you play the previous PES 2010, you already know about team style. It’s still same, the different just in the parameter value. In PES 2010 team style use scale 0-100, in PES 2011 it’s 0-20.

Pro Evolution Soccer / PES 2011 Team Style setting :

Player Support
You may setting it from 0-20. PES 2011 divide all parameter in 3 section.
0-7, your player will more defensive or always stay behind of the ball.
8-15, your player will occasional or sometimes support the attack. They will come forward sometimes
16-20, your player will actively support the attack. Be careful for using this setting. Quick attack (used to counter attack) can kill you.

Support Range
0-7, your player will spread wide. It’s suitable if you like to play direct football or long passes.
8-15, your player will support in the middle range. You may play short passes or long passes here, but remember adjust your power. In this range, sometimes you must press X longer so it can go further usual short pass.
16-20, your player will support in the short/narrow range. In this style, you can play short passes or play one-two.
Adjust this range and adjust it with your PES 2011 playing style. If you usually press X with very little power, choose narrow range. You know your style so choose it wisely.

Position Switch
0-7, your player will stay in their position.
8-15, your player sometimes will switch position with another player.
16-20, your player always switch the position, even sometimes their stamina do not support the position switch.
Choose wisely. Playing PES 2011 with doing switch position too much maybe make your team look play attractive, but when defense, maybe some player not in their position. Advice if you use switch often, when you attack, please take some time to make your player back to their position.

Attacking style
0-7, your players will attack from the flank, or play wide.
8-15, your player will spread in the pitch, try to cover all area in the pitch.
16-20, your player will attack through the center. I also called direct football. Almost all player try to get in the penalty box. If your PES 2011 team have a tall player and good in heading, this is may be one of solution to get goal.

Pressing
0-7, your team will try move back every time your player loose the ball.
8-15, your striker will try to press the opposite, but the defensive player still wait in their position.
16-20, your team, all defensive and attacking player, press the opposite aggressively. Calculate your team stamina if you choose this one. This setting will be a disaster for your PES 2011 team in last 15 minutes.

Defensive Line
0-7, your defensive line will drop back. Almost near with the goal keeper.
8-15, your defensive line in the 1/3 behind of the pitch.
16-20, your defensive line very high, almost 1/2 of the pitch.
If you like too playing with offside trap, high defensive line is great choice. You also may activate auto offside in Management Edit (new feature on PES 2011) to help you with offside trap, or you can do it manually.

Compactness
0-7, your teammates will move away from the ball holder. If your player (ball holder) in the right side, the teammates will go away and go the left side.
8-15, your teammates will stay in the possible range with the ball holder.
16-20, your teammates will stay close/near with the ball holder.
Close compactness may be great if your opponent is bad to hold ball. But is very risky if your opponent good in holding ball, and can kill you with the through pass. Through pass is one of deadly technique in PES 2011.

Defensive Strategy
You just make a choice from 2 options here, 0 (zero) or 1 (one).
0 (zero), your defensive will be line. It usually use Central Back and Side Back.
1 (one), one of your defensive player will covering other defender. It also can said using a sweeper. So the sweeper will be the last man in the defensive line. It also use Central Back and Side Back.

After read and know all this setting, create and choose your own style. Winning game in PES 2011 with your own PES 2011 team style is feel GREAT.

PES 2011 Free Kick

Short Free Kick (usually under 23 m), press Square  + down, then while ball in the air, press X button + left or right to curve it. You also may press down to make the ball go down (and not cross over the bar)
Alternative, you may press O + down, to make the ball pass below the player. It’s effective when the player jump when you kick the ball.

Medium Free Kick (IMO, between 23m – 29m), press Square. While the ball in the air, press X button + left/right to curve it. You may press down to make it go down and not croos over the bar. In this range, press X button while ball in the air in optional. My suggestion, do not press it. Press X button make the ball curve greatly, but with less power.

Long Free Kick (above 30m), press Square + up (to give more power), then while ball in the air, curve it by press Triangle + left/right.

Knuckle Free Kick (Cristiano Ronaldo trade mark). Press Square+up and while ball in air, press square again.

PES 2011 Penalty Kick

In penalty kick, you must press the combination of button when do penalty kick. After press Square, you must press back or front to determine, the ball is chip ball or straight one;  and then press Left or Right to aim the target. Remember, back, front, left and right relative with your player position.

PES 2011 dribble and feint more realistic and that’s why it fun dribble when playing the game. Standard dribble is fun, but by learn all dribble and feint tricks will make dribble more fun. By mastering all dribble tricks below, you will be like to dribble, dribble and dribble all the time. But please remember, PES 2011 or soccer not just about dribble.

PES 2011 Dribble and Feint Tricks :

Sideway Dribble : L2 + push Right analog to sideway. If your position face to the left or right, push the R analog up or down. Another way to do this by using R2. Just press R2 and press the sideway.

From now, I explain with condition your player face to the right. Your player move from left to the right of monitor.

Knock the ball on :  while in  stationary position, L2 + push the Right analog to downright or upright twice.

Upper Body Feint : while in  stationary position,  push the Right analog up or down

Matthews Feint : while in  stationary position, press and hold Right analog to upside and then push Left analog to downright; or press and hold Right analog to downside and then push Left analog to upright.

Matthew Feint into Side Flip : while in  stationary position, press and hold Right analog to upside and then push Left analog to downside; or press and hold Right analog to downside and then push Left analog to upside.

Running Upper Body Feint : while running, push Right analog to upside or downside.

Running Matthews Feint : while running, press and hold Right analog to upside and then push Left analog to downright; or press and hold Right analog to downside and then push Left analog to upright.

Step Over Dummy : while stationary, rotate Right analog from right to downside or from right to upside.

Reverse Step Over Dummy : while stationary, rotate Right analog from downside to right or from upside to right.

Step Over Fake : while stationary, rotate Right analog from downside to right and then push Left analog to downright; or rotate Right analog from upside to right and then push Left analog to upright.

Outside Step Over : while stationary, rotate Right analog from downside to right and then push Left analog to downleft; or rotate Right analog from upside to right and then push Left analog to upleft.

Running Step Over Dummy : while running, rotate Right analog from right to downside or from right to upside.

Running Reverse Step Over Dummy : while running, rotate Right analog from downside to right or from upside to right.

Step Over : while running, rotate Right analog from downside to right and then push Left analog to downright; or rotate Right analog from upside to right and then push Left analog to upright.

Running Outside Step Over : while running, rotate Right analog from downside to right and then push Left analog to downleft; or rotate Right analog from upside to right and then push Left analog to upleft.

Step and Drag : while stationary, press L2 and push Right analog to the left (backward)

Draf Back and Turn : while stationary, press L2 and push Right analog to the left (backward) and then push the Left Analog to upside or downside.

Backheel Feint : while stationary, rotate Right analog from left to upside and then push Left analog to downside; or rotate Right analog from left to downside and then push Left analog to upside.

Inside Bounce : while stationary, hold L2, push the Right analog to left and then push Left analog to right.

Running Inside Bounce into Dianogal : while running, hold L2, push the Right analog to left and then push Left analog to upright or downright.

Elastico : while running, hold L2, push the Right analog to upright and then push Left analog to the downright; or push Right analog to downright and then push Left analog to the upright.

Cross Over Turn : while running, hold L2, push the Right analog to downside and then push the Left analog to downside; or push the Right analog to upside and then push the Left analog to upside.

Roulette Turn : hold L2 and then rotate the right analog 360 degree clockwise or counter clockwise.

Diving : press L2+R2 in the same time.

Rainbow Flick : L2 + R3 twice.

Lift into Right/Left : L2+R2 and then push Left analog to upright or downright.

Sideward Step Over : in sideward position (please see above how to sideward position) do the Step Over (please see above how to Step Over.

Honestly, in my opinion, in PES 2011 dribble and feint more complicated than PES 2010. But after do all trick, the simple way to understand the dribble and feint in PES 2011 is :
PES 2011 Dribble and Feint Simple Formula :

Press L2 + Right analog move + Left analog move

I waited it launched in Playstation 2 but after searched any information from Konami and Playstation website, I found that Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 just launched in Playstation 3.

PES 2010 Dribble Tricks

After trying it and doing some expetiment about PES 2010 movements or PES 2010 dribble tricks, I will try so share some PES 2010 dribble tricks that I found.

I will try my best to explain all these trick. Back when the opposite direction from for facing direction. Example, if your player move from the left to the right (facing to the right), back mean you must press left button.

Some PES 2010 dribble tricks that I want to share, in condition player move from left to the right (facing right) :

Cross over : while running press L1 twice. In PES 2010, cross over more effective then previous version. If you can find the right timing, you can pass the defender just using cross over, without change the direction.

Cross over 2 : while running press L2 twice. It effective to change the dribbler foot in order to cover the ball from defender.

Side Drag : when you player in stationary condition, just press up or down. Player continue doing this side drag until you give another command.

Tricky feint 1 : when you player in stationary condition, hold R1 + press up (or down) twice. You must not hold R1 if you very sure that your player in stationary condition. But to make sure that it works, I suggest press and hold R1.

Tricky feint 2 : when you player in stationary condition, hold R1 + press up then down (do it quickly) or hold R1 + press down then up (do it quickly). It also called Matthew Feint (thanks to my friend about this).

Lift the ball : while running + press left then right (do it quickly). Your player will lift the ball, you can use it to pass defensive player or avoid tackling.

Drag-back : when you player in stationary condition, hold R1 + press back button twice (hold R1 + press left button twice)

Drag-back and go : when you player in stationary condition, hold R1 + press back button twice (hold R1 + press left button twice ) then press (up+right) or (down+right)

Flip-flap : it’s more difficult to explain, but i’ll try my best. While running (don’t press R1) press up+right then down+right or you can press down+right then up+right, depending on defensive player position. You must do it quickly.

360 degree turn over/ Marseille Roulette : To do this, just rotate your left analog 360 degree, clockwise or reverse clockwise. This PES 2010 dribble trick also known as Zidane Roulette.

Some spesial player (like Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo) have a spesial movement in PES 2010 dribble. Example if you change the direction 90 degree, Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo perform their trade mark movement, not like usual player movement. This movement depend on their dribble stats.

That’s all PES 2010 dribble tricks that I found and will update if I find another PES 2010 dribble tricks. Do PES 2010 dribble tricks and move in game is interesting. But remember, sometimes, simple movement usually win the games. Winning the games, not just about PES 2010 dribble tricks.

PES 2009 Dribble Tricks

But I won’t share about the features this time. If you like to do some dribble trick in Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (or Winning Eleven 2009), you will find that it’s not like the previous version. So, I want share about PES 2009 dribble tricks this time.

These trick explained with condition your player move from left to right (facing the right) :

Cross over : while running press L1 twice

Cross over 2 : while running press L2 twice

Tricky feint 1 : hold R2 + press up (or down) twice

Tricky feint 2 : hold R2 + press up then down (do it quickly) or hold R2 + press down then up (do it quickly).

Lift the ball : hold R2 + press left then right (do it quickly). Your player will lift the ball, you can use it to pass defensive player or avoid tackling.

Drag-back : hold R2 + press back button twice (hold R2 + press left button twice )

Drag-back and go : hold R2 + press back button twice (hold R2 + press left button twice ) then press (up+right) or (down+right)

Flip-flap : it’s more difficult to explain, but i’ll try my best. While running (don’t press R1) press up+right then down+right or you can press down+right then up+right, depending on defensive player position. You must do it quickly.

360 degree turn over : it’s my favorite trick because so many players said that this trick has been removed. It’s wrong. To do this, just rotate your left analog 360 degree, clockwise or reverse clockwise.
